Book on Community Policing released
SP Ibocha scores with academic face

Imphal, July 11: A police officer with an academic bent of mind.

Perhaps these few words may just sum up the persona of senior police officer, Soibam Ibocha Singh, SP of Thoubal district and what better way to demonstrate this than by authoring a book, entitled, 'Community Policing-Principles, Practices and Perspectives in the Context of Manipur'.

Fittingly the book was released by Chief Minister O Ibobi at the banquet hall of 1st MR today evening with a number of dignitaries gracing the dais and many other more turning up for the book release function.

Lauding the efforts put in by the police officer, Ibobi said, 'Since the book is the only one of its kind in the entire country, it will be a valuable asset to the Nation and we are proud of it'.

Head of Anthropology Department of MU, Prof Nabakumar delivered a critical comment on the book, ranging from its content to the approach adopted by the author.

Associate Prof of Anthropology Department of MU MC Arun also gave a critical discourse on the issues raised in the book.

Apart from the Chief Minister and the two teachers from MU, Dean of Social Sciences of MU Prof N Joykumar also spoke at length on the importance of the book.

Speaker of the Assembly Dr Budhichandra also addressed the gathering.

Published by Akansha Publications, New Delhi, the book gives a detailed account of policing and the manner in which the concept of policing has evolved all over the world.

Running into 404 pages the book is priced at Rs 1050 and comes in a neat and attractive jacket.
