Kachra Mafia and Afghani Illegals - A letter to the Governor

Copy of the Letter sent to the Governor of Sindh

Your Excellency, Governor of Sindh, Karachi, Pakistan

Salaam. A very nice and pleasant day to you.

This report is being sent to you for and on behalf of the residents of Gulistan e Jauhar, particularly Block 14.

We have been surprised by a sudden emergence of a KACHRA MAFIA in our streets. These are Afghanis, without any legal IDs and authorities, knocking at our doors to collect the home garbage on a daily basis.

These people have a wide network, and have harassed and stopped the traditional sanitary workers of Christian Community to perform their long standing work. This mafia is supported by some locals, who claim to have connections with UC 10, Pahalwan Goth.

Now when we refuse to obtain services from these suspects and illegals, they have imposed a Mafia style strangulation on us. As our traditional sanitary workers are not allowed by them to come to us, the garbage is piling up and creating a nuisance and health hazard.

This phenomenon is being observed for past 10 days or so.

When these illegals were challenged, they produced a letter from UC 10, advising all and sundry that they have allowed an hitherto unkonwn entity A2Z services to perform the garbage collections from our areas. This company requires to be investigated as to its legal entity, tax registration, and a commercial registration, and its experience, and its standard operating procedures.

We rquest you to please take a notice of this undesirable development, and we strongly lodge our protest against such Mafia type approach.

In particular please note:

1- Illegal Afghans, suspected people, without legal IDs people are being hired by some gangs, and let lose in our streets
2- The traditional Christian Sanitary workers are harassed, and deprived of their livelihood, a totally unacceptable situation towards the minorities living under Islamic traditions and protection
3- The new "solutions" are being imposed on the residents without their approval and knowledge
4- Pakistani pride, and its bread and butter of poor is being sold out to illegal Afghan nationals, for some paltry economic gains

Today, when Pakistan is facing a national chaotic situation due to Afghani upheavals, we find it very strange that some of the people in power in Union Councils are providing a Mafia like cover to such Afghan gangs. The Mafia Cover is also provided through motor bikes riding watchdogs of the Mafia, who roam our streets without fear, looking for signs of resistance from innocent citizens. Their motorbikes are without license plates, and they have no IDs on them.

We, therefore demand that the government of sindh take an immediate notice of this development, and take actions to mitigate the situation forthwith.

We require a liberty to seek the services of our choice and satisfaction, and not an imposition of the dangerous criminals and non Pakistanis roaming in our streets.

Best Regards and Respects.

Very Sincerely Yours,
