Community Progress: New Guard Cabin and Garbage Swivel Drums

DEVELOPMENTS IN OUR COMMUNITY

For past many months it was seen that at times the garbage collector is unable to collect the trash due to two main reasons:

1- No electricity, so the bell does not ring
2- The residents are unable to answer the trashman call in time

Thus Hashim Syed raised this proposal about 6 month ago. Why not we install our own garbage drums outside each home on the street. Let the residents place the garbage at their convenience at night or early morning.

Then the trashman would collect the garbage from there, without disturbance.

The idea caught on, and our sweet Iqbal Qureshi, B-33, executed it in a very fine manner. We had seen nice swivel drums in city gardens, especially in Nisar Park, DHA. So similar ones were ordered. Each cost us Rs. 1800.

Now, we faced a problem of communication. Each household needs its own drum. So that they would not pile up their dirt in front of other neighbours. It seems, we were not able to communicate this matter in time.

Thus some people, surprised by the development, refused its installation near their homes. Another issue is parking space, which could be compromised a bit, due to the drums. But this is not a great problem right now.

So, dear neighbour, if you have refused to install the personal trash drum near your own home, you legally do not have a right to dump your home trash in these drums. But we urge you to do so on an experimental basis. Use them.

Once you are convinced that this is a good thing, allow us to install one near your own home.

You will note that in each developed society of the world, this is normal. Even there are very large trash cans for each street, where the residents have to go out and dump their trash. Each day municipality vehicle comes and collects the big garbage trunk using its trucks.

SECOND DEVELOPMENT

Now we have a small decorately painted one man guard cabin next to B-39. Thanks are due to Khwaja Saheb, and his family, for allowing its installation. Our guard used to remain in hot sun before, now he may have some respite. This has cost . Rs.

MORE DEVELOPMENTS

Zahid Razi, B-95, has taken up the maintenance of accounts on his computers. We are thankful to him.

We plan to place these accounts on a private website, only accessible by invitation to the members of the Community on our street.

GUARDS RETURN

Gulsher returned two days ago. He had extended his 10 day leave by one day.

Also Mehrab had returned within 36 hours, after taking his sick brother to Sanghar.

MONTHLY PAYMENTS

Somehow, our active neighbour Zahid Razi had decided to reduce monthly contribution from 1500 to 1350. This matter was not consulted widely. As we need to increase our municipal services, this contribution needs to be revsied again.

REGULAR SERVICES

We plan to have good handyman for our street. He might handle Gardening, Cleaning, and assist the guards in their day time duties. Then we can remove all the Gardeners and the Trashman who have very low service levels.

Suspects, Strangers, Illegal Foreigners Knocking at our Doors

The illegal foreigners, agents of organized criminals, knocking at our doors!

Face of Illegal Afghans Trash Mafia

The person on right, says his name is Gul Mohammad !!!, is an aggressive one in the Agents. He has threatened Adil and scared him away ....

Verification and Control over the Afghan Trash Mafia Agents.

Threats Reported

Adil has been in our streets for many years. He grew up here.
He has been charging variable amounts from each home, depending on their generosity.
He is not a Cheap labour. But he is a Christian, who needs protection in an Islamic State.
(His charges are from Rs. 100 to Rs. 300 per home. He has over 30 homes to serve ... Wow. The Afghan Mafia is demanding now Rs. 100 PM ... but no one can stop them from a revision as per their whims ... Once they get a foothold, they will stalk our homes too. Their work basis is Organized Crime, and such actions have no limits.)

Afghan Garbage Trash Mafia Worker

This person has been threatening our old sanitary worker, Adil, with dire consequence, and made him run from the area:

Kachra Mafia and Afghani Illegals - A letter to the Governor

Copy of the Letter sent to the Governor of Sindh

Your Excellency, Governor of Sindh, Karachi, Pakistan

Salaam. A very nice and pleasant day to you.

This report is being sent to you for and on behalf of the residents of Gulistan e Jauhar, particularly Block 14.

We have been surprised by a sudden emergence of a KACHRA MAFIA in our streets. These are Afghanis, without any legal IDs and authorities, knocking at our doors to collect the home garbage on a daily basis.

These people have a wide network, and have harassed and stopped the traditional sanitary workers of Christian Community to perform their long standing work. This mafia is supported by some locals, who claim to have connections with UC 10, Pahalwan Goth.

Now when we refuse to obtain services from these suspects and illegals, they have imposed a Mafia style strangulation on us. As our traditional sanitary workers are not allowed by them to come to us, the garbage is piling up and creating a nuisance and health hazard.

This phenomenon is being observed for past 10 days or so.

When these illegals were challenged, they produced a letter from UC 10, advising all and sundry that they have allowed an hitherto unkonwn entity A2Z services to perform the garbage collections from our areas. This company requires to be investigated as to its legal entity, tax registration, and a commercial registration, and its experience, and its standard operating procedures.

We rquest you to please take a notice of this undesirable development, and we strongly lodge our protest against such Mafia type approach.

In particular please note:

1- Illegal Afghans, suspected people, without legal IDs people are being hired by some gangs, and let lose in our streets
2- The traditional Christian Sanitary workers are harassed, and deprived of their livelihood, a totally unacceptable situation towards the minorities living under Islamic traditions and protection
3- The new "solutions" are being imposed on the residents without their approval and knowledge
4- Pakistani pride, and its bread and butter of poor is being sold out to illegal Afghan nationals, for some paltry economic gains

Today, when Pakistan is facing a national chaotic situation due to Afghani upheavals, we find it very strange that some of the people in power in Union Councils are providing a Mafia like cover to such Afghan gangs. The Mafia Cover is also provided through motor bikes riding watchdogs of the Mafia, who roam our streets without fear, looking for signs of resistance from innocent citizens. Their motorbikes are without license plates, and they have no IDs on them.

We, therefore demand that the government of sindh take an immediate notice of this development, and take actions to mitigate the situation forthwith.

We require a liberty to seek the services of our choice and satisfaction, and not an imposition of the dangerous criminals and non Pakistanis roaming in our streets.

Best Regards and Respects.

Very Sincerely Yours,
